The grapes used to make this wine come from our vineyards in La Seca located in the heart of the Rueda Designation of Origin area and a stone's throw from the Duero River. The soil of the vineyards is made up of a top layer of river-stone pebbles and a clay subsoil, factors which endow the wine with a touch of minerality. The vines used to make Javier Sanz Viticultor Tinto Roble red wine are of the varieties Tempranillo and Merlot and grow at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level, on the bench lands closest to the Duero River that meanders through La Seca. The continental climate's very cold winters and wide diurnal temperature range. during the summer ensure that the grapes retain the acidity as well as the aromatic compounds and phenols that develop during the day. When the grapes have reached their optimum level of maturity, they are harvested by hand and the first selection of clusters is carried out in the vineyard itself. When the grapes have been destemmed, they are placed in stainless steel vats and left to macerate, with regular pumping over to increase the phenolic qualities and the aroma of the wine. Following the alcoholic fermentation that occurs at controlled temperatures below 24°C, the wine is put into French and American oak barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place and the wine is aged for four months. The wine has a bright, intense cherry colour with purple hues. On the nose it is aromatic and frank. It is a very intense wine with aromas of red fruit such as cherries, redcurrants and raspberries with light notes of spice and minerals. On the palate it is flavoursome and fruity with a fresh, balanced acidity. This full-bodied wine has good structure and remarkable harmony and subtlety. Javier Sanz Tinto Roble is a surprisingly fruity, lively and flavoursome wine with remarkable harmony and subtlety. It is the embodiment of the region and the terroir from which it hails.

The variety Verdejo Marcorta was almost extinguished but, after years of research, Javier Sanz Viticultor has managed to bring it back to use in order to craft this unique wine. It is an extremely unusual clone of Verdejo which was no longer used due to the difficulty of its harvesting (which explains the name “Mal-corta” : Bad/difficult to cut). We have recovered the variety driven by the peculiar intensity of its aromas and flavours. It is quite a late-ripening variety actually the last one to be harvested. It also grows in small and tight bunches, which makes it ripen with a higher acidity, producing refreshingly balanced and concentrated wines. It is harvested at a perfect ripening point. Very careful winemaking, including cold maceration, juice settling for 24 hours, gravity-led racking and a slow, cold fermentation (below 15ºC) in stainless steel tanks, seeking to retain fruit aromas. Clean and bright. It shows a pale straw yellow colour. Intense, clean and powerful aromas of blossom flowers, citrus and creamy stone fruit. Its flinty, mineral aromas provide an added complexity in the nose. Tangy acidity, crisp and refreshing. Its citrus and fruit flavours linger in the palate, leaving a nice and fresh aftertaste.

is planted with bush-trained vines. This method effectively keeps grapes near the ground, allowing them to ripen at night due to the heat retention of the soil and protecting them from the excess of heat and sunlight during the day. These vines are resistant to weather and disease but are labour intensive to harvest. Continental weather is characterized by wide diurnal swings which make high daytime temperatures tumble up to 20 degrees at night. Additionally, very cold winters together with rains in spring and autumn help reaching the characteristic acidity Verdejo is known for. Cold maceration for a few hours. Pressing. The juice is then settled for one day. Once clear, Fermentation takes places in new French oak barrels where it ages for six months with regular stirring (batonage), followed by another half a year in bottle before release. Bright and golden in the glass. Showing ripe peach and grape aromas, coupled with toast, nuts and vanilla characters. It is a full-bodied, smooth wine, displaying a pleasant acidity and lingering nutty flavours. Serve slightly chilled (10ºC). It will show its best character when we combine it with food: It will match the flavours of firm-fleshed grilled fish, such as monkfish, seabass or turbot and grilled vegetables. Try with fish rice casseroles, savoury pastries, like empanadas or quiche, grilled or pan-roasted chicken.

100% estate-grown grapes from our family vineyards in La Seca. The grapes come from 15-year old Verdejo vines. Most of them are trellised and machine-harvested at night during the second week of September. The soils in these vineyards are poor in nutrients, with a topsoil of rolling stones over a subsoil of clay. . Grapes selected at their moment of ripening are mechanical harvested at night to preserve oxidation. Cold soaking of the skins before fermentation and temperature-controlled fermentation at 17º C. Fermentation is stopped by lowering the temperature at the right moment to preserve the natural sugar of the grapes, obtaining a great balance between acidity and sweetness. Pale yellow with greenish hints, bright and clear. Mellow but refreshing at the same time. In the nose, notes of melon and pineapple. With a pleasant mouthfeel, slight sweetness and grapey flavours combined with a light, balancing acidity. We recommend to serve it well chilled (around 6ºC). It works superbly with soft cheeses and spicy finger food. It will balance and enhance the flavours of Asian food and spices.

Sauvignon Blanc was first planted in Rueda over 40 years ago and from the beginning it thrived due to Rueda’s stony soils, allowing for fragrant and fresh wines, always as a single varietal never blended. Vineyard: Paraje del Camino Real Estate, a +25 year-old vineyard, planted with trellised vines. Continental weather is characterized by wide diurnal swings which make high daytime temperatures tumble down 20 degrees at night. Additionally, very cold winters together with rains in spring and autumn help reaching the characteristic acidity . Mechanical harvesting allows for a quick transport of the grapes to the cellar. Cold maceration for a few hours. Pressing the juice is then settled for one day. Once clear, fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a temperature below 15ºC, using the grapes´ indigenous yeast. The low temperature allows for a slow fermentation that helps preserving as many fruity aromas as possible. The wine is aged on its fine lees before bottling. Cold stabilization and filtering before bottling. Pale yellow with a tinge of green. It clearly shows delicate and characteristic varietal aromas like lime, grass and elderflower. There are also notes of tropical fruit like pineapple and passion fruit. In the palate, it displays a crisp acidity and a bright citrus fruit character, coupled with tropical flavours. Medium-bodied and refreshing, with lingering floral and mineral flavours in the finish.
