ORIGINS: Wine from Carignano, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes vinified individually from spurred cordon vines cultivated in Basso Sulcis region. SOIL COMPOSTION: Medium texture calcareous, clay and sandy soil. CLIMATE: Hot and dry in summer, temperate in winter. HARVESTING: In a normal year the grapes are harvested between the second half of September and the middle of October. VINIFICATION: The must is fermented with the skins at a temperature of between 25 and 30°C. It is periodically pumped over to facilitate the solubilization of the compounds present in the grapes. Malolactic fermentation confers roundness to the wine, which is then aged in French oak barrels (used) for approximately. 15 months. ORGANOLEPCTIC CHARACTERISTICS – Colour: deep ruby red. Perfume: intensely fruity with a liquorice finish. Taste: an elegant wine with a full mouth.

This wine arises from an old vine variety in the heart of the Cirò territory, the “Gaglioppo”, in the old hillside vineyards with a low yield from each vine. A wine authority and prestige of Baron Raffaele, an expert with the pen and the law who lived mindful of the week and fought widely for his country. Production technique: the grapes are allowed to mature on the hillside until the second half of October, then they are subject to a lengthy steeping followed by ageing in steel barrels for at least three years. Particular characteristic: smooth, burgundy-coloured red wine, with dark ruby reflections. The taste is full-bodied, persistent, with a winning softness and with sensations of great flavour. This is a wine for “the few”, produced in limited quantities and available in strictly numbered bottles. Serving suggestions: particularly suitable with elaborate first courses, game, typical seasoned spicy cheeses and truffle-based dishes. Ideal service temperature: 18 Cº.
