The glass shimmers with all the colours of a summer sunset before a kaleidoscope of sensations explodes on the nose and the palate flaunts its full body and bright agility. Age of vines: 20 – 50 years. Temperature: 13 – 15 °C. Age-ability: 2015 – 2017 Yield: 70 hl/ha. Vine training: Pergola. VINTAGE: The 2014 growing year began with a very mild, wet winter. Temperatures well above seasonal averages led to budbreak in mid March about three weeks early. Despite this abnormal start to the year, the early budbreak was lost during the exceptionally cool, rainy summer months, which forced our growers to work hard and long. Relatively low temperatures during harvest, which began in the first week of September, meant that ripening was slow and prolonged. In the event, the process continued until the end of October for the later-ripening red varieties. Meticulous selection and lower yields per hectare enabled the red grapes to take advantage of extended ripening and well-timed picking to deliver fresh, fruit-led wines that offer an intriguing interplay of extract, savouriness and structure. VINIFICATION: Fermentation on the skins at 26 °C with 7-days extended maceration, malo-lactic fermentation and 4-month ageing on the fine lees in stainless steel and large casks. VINEYARD: South-facing slopes situated at 300 – 450 meters above sea level. Sandy, eroded porphyry soil, heat-retaining and well-drained. TASTING NOTES: deep cherry red; fruit-dominated nose, reminiscent of cherries, a light undertone of bitter almonds and violets; juicy and voluptuous on the palate, soft and round on the finish. RECOMMENDATION: This wine is well paired with pasta dishes, as well as lighter meats.

Age of vines: 5 – 15 years. Temperature: 10 – 12 °C. Age-ability: 2015 – 2017. Yield: 80 hl/ha. Vine training: Wire-trained + Pergola. White varieties benefited considerably from the low temperatures, yielding well-typed, fresh-tasting wines with good salinity, mineral-tinged acidity and savoury structure. VINIFICATION: Whole-cluster pressing of ripe and healthy grapes, natural must clarification, fermentation at a controlled temperature of 16 °C, 4-month ageing on the fine lees in stainless steel. VINEYARD: Higher hilly areas between 450 and 600 m above sea level. Loamy, chalky gravel. TASTING NOTES: pale yellow with green reflections; fruity accents of apricot and pineapple and hints of flowery elderberry; fresh and juicy with a smooth finish. RECOMMENDATION: K White is a wine with which to welcome spring, for warm summer evenings spent on the terrace, or for spontaneous meals with friends. Aromatic, fruity, fresh and clear – just like a breeze from the Dolomites.

An emotion that rings clear as crystal. The pleasure of slipping into a favourite garment whose familiarity outweighs any short-lived fashion. Age of vines: 17 years. Temperature: 10 – 12 °C. Age-ability: 2015 – 2020. Yield: 45 hl/ha. Vine training: Wire-trained. VINTAGE: After a very dry, warm winter, spring saw the earliest appearance of shoots on the vines in the history of modern winegrowing in South Tyrol. The relatively cool months of April and May then caused a delay in the vegetation phases. The beginning of summer was somewhat cool and damp, providing sufficient precipitation for an optimal start to the ripening phase. The ripening process was also positively influenced by a very warm and dry August. The autumn weather was very fine at the beginning of the harvest, with just a few rainy days during the whole picking process, allowing all grape varieties in every type of location to develop in the best possible way. The 2012 white wines are of exceptional quality, with fine fruit and acidity and a harmonious structure. VINIFICATION: Several hour cold maceration of the whole berries, spontaneous fermentation of the unclarified must in tonneaux (10 months maturing in the wood), on the fine lees with continuous stirring. VINEYARD: South-facing slope situated at 350 meters above sea level, sun-graced slope with warm, well-drained, chalky gravel soils. TASTING NOTES: golden yellow with light green hues; ripe aromas of fruit, pineapple, apricot, lychee, paired with fine, toasty aromas; full, rich and creamy on the palate with mineral undertones, lively acidity on the finish. RECOMMENDATION: This wine is often enjoyed as an aperitif, or paired with appetizers and fish.

The Boscaini family keeps a unique collection of fine wines in its private cellars, produced in limited quantities and only in the best years, which the family likes to share with lovers of Masi wines. Mezzanella is a Recioto wine that stands out for its complexity and for its characteristic almond aftertaste. A real rarity that comes from the eponymous vineyard, well known for its quality since the XII century, where the grapes ripen naturally in traditional drying lofts during the cold winter months. Serving temperature: 15° C. Storage life: 15-20 years. Tasting notes: Look - opaque ruby red with viscous texture. Nose - complex combination of baked fruit and sweet spices. Palate - full-bodied mix of dried plums and cinnamon. Fascinating aftertaste of almonds and intriguing bitter-sweet finish. Food pairing: Excellent food wine. Goes well with mature cheeses with bite, sweet pastries and dried fruit. The perfect accompaniment to the intense, ripe aromas of a cigar. In the 1950s, Masi was a pioneer in establishing the cru or “single vineyard” concept in Italy. The company’s Amarone and Recioto wines from historic cru vineyards are excellent expressions of the different terroir sites in the Valpolicella region, which endow the wines with unique style and typical, easily-recognisable characteristics. In particular, the Vaio Mezzanella vineyard produces a wine of great complexity and structure. The wine is styled half way between a sweet Recioto and an Amarone, rather than being based on sweetness alone.

The Boscaini family keeps a unique collection of fine wines in its private cellars, produced in limited quantities and only in the best years, which the family likes to share with lovers of Masi wines. Osar is a wine with surprising structure and complexity, unusual for its full-bodied nature, colour and tannin content. Made with the ancient Veronese grape variety, Oseleta, which was rediscovered and replanted by Masi in the 1980s, it tells a unique story in the history of winemaking in the Venetian regions and its success is a triumph of the Masi technical team. Serving temperature: 18° C. Storage life: 15-20 years. Tasting notes: Look - viscous texture with deep, dark opaque red colour. Nose - clean and complex with hints of blueberries, blackberries and fresh-cut greenery. Palate - strong tannins in a strong wine, well-balanced with good acidity. Long finish. Food pairing: Big wine with structure and complexity suitable to go with red meat, game and strong cheeses. Osar is the grape that gives a special character to this wine called Osar, whose name has a double meaning. The Italian words “osare, rischiare” (“dare, risk”) reflect the challenge undertaken by Masi when rediscovering the use of this secondary Veronese grape variety that had been abandoned for decades. “Osar” also means “cry out with joy” in Veronese dialect, and reflects the enthusiasm and sense of victory felt by the Masi team when they tasted the first trial bottles of this wine! Osar is an historic legacy from the cultural territory of the Venetian regions and has been reinterpreted by the passion and expertise of Masi.

Puer Apuliae or “Son of Puglia”: so was called Frederick II of Swabia, the 13th century Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire who lovedthis region so much that he had the Castel del Monte, his most incredible and mysterious monument, built here, leaving an indelible memorial for the whole of humanity. Thus we called this wine Puer Apuliae, for being the child of the most representative indigenous black grape variety in central Puglia: Nero di Troia. It is a wine of considerable character and style, obtained from an almost-forgotten small-berried clone of Nero di Troia selected in Rivera’s oldest vineyards. Modern-style vinification and ageing in new barriques have enabled us to make a wine in which the typical aromas of this variety, violets and star anise, are strongly present, supported by a really full-bodied palate. WINE MAKING: The grapes are picked between the last week of October and the first of November. Maceration in stainless steel lasts 20 days, with frequent pump-overs and delestage for maximum extraction of aroma and colour compounds, micro-oxygenation softens the considerable tannin content. AGEING: After fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in new French oak barriques, where it matures for 14 months. The wine is neither cold stabilized nor filtered; it is given a further 12 months’ bottle-ageing be-fore release. RODUCTION AREA: The Murgia hills area northwest of Bari, in theCastel del Monte D.O.C. zone. VINEYARDS: Vineyard “Tafuri”, located at an altitude of 250 metres at the foot of the Murgia hills with very poor calcareous soils, is trained to the spurred cordon system at 4,800 vines per hectare. Average yield is 50-60 quintals per hectare. TASTING NOTES: Deep, impenetrable purple-red colour; intense, fresh aromas of dark berry, star anise, and violets; concentrated, full-bodied flavours on the palate, with lingering, spicy black berry fruit; close-knit but soft tannins on the finish. RECOMMENDED WITH: The concentration and intensity of this wine

Lama dei Corviis the prestigious white wine that Rivera that takes its name from the new vineyard planted in the rocky hills in the northern part of the Castel del Monte doc area. It is obtained from Chardonnay grapes carefully hand harvested and soft pressed. The mustis then fermented in new French oak barriques, where the wine ages for 8 months. In order to maintain the maximum of the organoleptic characteristics the wine does not undergo cold stabilization before bottling. WINE MAKING: The grapes are hand-picked into 20-kg shallow boxes during the second week of August and are then lightly pressed. The must goes to 225-litre French oak barrels, where it undergoes a slow fermentation at 18 °C. AGEING: The wine matures in barriques for 9 months, with twice-weekly lees stirring. The wine is then bottled without cold stabilization and matures for a further 6 months before release. RODUCTION AREA: Territory of Andria in the northern part of Castel del Monte D.O.C. area. VINEYARDS: The Lama dei Corvi vineyard, at an altitude of 350 metres and with rocky soils, where the vines are trained to the spurred cordon system at 4,800 vines per hectare. Yield is kept as low as 80-90 quintals per hectare. TASTING NOTES: Deep straw yellow in colour. Intense, fruity bouquet, richly layered with ripe pear and apple over nuances of saffron and cinnamon. Complex and elegant on the palate, it shows good balance between fruit and complex notes. RECOMMENDED WITH: The complexity of the wine makes it the perfect complement to rich main courses, especially seafood dishes such as seafood in safron vellutèe or salmon tagliolini. CELLARING: If properly stored the wine has a potential to age up to 5 years after the harvest.
