Vintage evaluation: Winter was cold and relatively long. From April we had a beautiful sunny weather until July, when colder weather and more rain were dominant. It didn’t fall permanently but in great quantities at once. From the beginning and mid August we had nice summer weather again with really high temperature. This weather lasted until the end of the harvest which was in the first half of October. All along we had summer weather with 25-28 degrees without rain. The grape developed nicely in the whole year, the plantations showed extreme vitality, maybe they brought their best so far. Age of stocks: 12-17. Stock/hectare: 7.200. Yield: 25 hl/ha. Farming method: Middle cordon; 230 x 120 twin stocks. Harvest period: Mid September – Beginning of October. Vinification: Partly in steel tanks, partly in wooden vats; malo-lactic fermentation in oak. 60% aged in new barrique, 40% in big (10-25 hl) barrels for 16 months. Description: On the wall of the glass Kopar 2011 creates thick arches. The deep, dark colors show the usual concentration. In its nose it is already quite various: toast, cinnamon, blackberry, cherry, ripe sour cherry, small pepper, clove, vanilla, mineral marks. In its taste it is also complex. The pepper-mineral character can be found here too, which supplements cherry and black berries. The acids are nice, still vibrating. Tannins show more intense character but our wine is still in baby shoes. Its aftertaste is long, the barrique character hides inthe background nicely, so the fruits can play the main role. Shows elegant, light character, but also has specific weight, full bodied, and has long ageing potential. Ripeness: Well drinkable also now, but it will reaches its peak expectedly cca. 2020-23.
