Lovely mid density colour, not light or black with purple hues. Dark cherry and now released as a young wine, some noticeble charry oak notes on the aroma. Brokenwood had the luxury of being highly selective across all its barrels in 2014 and this wine has benefitted greatly from some declassified old vine Graveyard Shiraz in the blend. Full flavoured and slight Hunter Valley iodine characters and lots of ripe blackberry fruit. Sweet ripe tannins carry the flavour and bright acid finish. Again oak there but certainly fits the overall structure of the wine.

As expected of a red wine bottled after 6 months, the colour is deep red with purple hues. Aromas of pastille blue fruits and some spice. Generous palate with cherry ripe flavours from start to finish. Definitely low astringency but the tannins are ripe giving great ‘carry’ and finish. An easy drinking, casual wine to enjoy with friends or at a Sunday BBQ.

Probably a combination of fruit and vanillin from French oak barriques. These carry to the palate with reasonably young flavours. All in balance with perfect structure and ripe dusty tannins for long term aging.

Lifted pear and floral aromas is definitely synonymous with Pinot Gris. The alcohol at 13.5% is balanced without any signs of oiliness and there’s plenty of musk fruit and natural richness from the slight phenolic grip that this variety has. The tropical fruit is balanced by a zesty acid.
