Aromatically you will get classic Marlborough capsicum and dried herbs, but from such a wicked vintage as 2013 you will also get the fresh guava, and unbelievably a bit of pineapple! Oak characters aren’t overly apparent on the nose, however, when you take a sip you will feel the power from the oak fermentation and aging. Those typical bright Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc aromatics have given way to a much more complex palate, the flavours are there, but added to this is some incredible weight, some oak tannin, and some rich texture, and yet that brisk acidity fights back to give the wine a clean lingering finish.

Stand tall and prepare to bow. You always know when royalty is in the room. Central Otago Methode Traditionnelle is not well known. This is because the producers and those in the know generally drink it all before the general public gets a whiff of it! But finally, the volumes are getting to the point where producers are willing to let a few bottles slide out the cellar door to the discerning buyer! It is elegance, excitement, and a sense of raw wild expression of one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world. To be able to capture this in a bottle is exciting and satisfying. This beautifully bottle aged Methode Traditionnelle has captured Central Otago. Aromatics are wild herbs, honey comb, a biscuit yeast autolysis characters. The palate is well balanced with lemon, pineapple building to a creamy mid-palate, and tapering off to an elegant finish which simply exudes finesse.
